Two ways to sell
Scrap or sell?
Some people call it junk car removal; others talk about taking a car to the wreckers. Whatever you call it, scrapping makes sense when repairs would cost more than the vehicle is worth, or when it has been off the road for a long time. If your vehicle still runs and is roadworthy, selling it as a used car may suit you better.

Tell us about the vehicle's condition and access
The more we know before collection, the fewer surprises on the day. Please tell us:
- the year, make and model
- whether it starts, and whether it can be driven, rolled or steered, and whether you have the keys
- whether any major parts are missing, such as the engine, transmission, wheels or doors
- any damage from an accident, fire or flood
- photos help, especially of all four sides and anything damaged or missing

Where the vehicle sits decides how it can be collected. Let us know:
- the exact location: a driveway, a street, a parking lot or an underground parkade (with the level and any height limit)
- whether the tires hold air and the wheels turn
- whether other vehicles, fences or gates block the way, and any gate or building access codes
- when someone can be there to meet the driver

Arrange a time
If you go ahead, we agree a collection time with you. You receive a bill of sale confirming the vehicle is scrapped and in AKJ's control.

Checklist
Before the vehicle leaves
- Take out your personal belongings, including the glovebox, the trunk and under the seats.
- We remove the plates and give them to you, so you can cancel your insurance.
- Ask your Autoplan broker whether you also need to cancel the registration.
- Have your registration and photo ID ready so we can confirm you own the vehicle.
